Primary School: Our first community recycling initiative! To empower children and their families to make a positive change, we have partnered with Trashlucky, launching our first-ever community recycling initiative.

To empower children and their families to make a positive change, we have partnered with Trashlucky, launching our first-ever community recycling initiative. 

Who are Trashlucky?

Trashlucky is a startup recycling programme that turns 'trash into gold'. Trashlucky believes that education, and motivating children to be responsible for their waste is an important way to enable change here in Thailand. They know that ease of recycling is an obstacle to changing our daily habits, which is another reason why they are connecting with schools to set up drop off points. To motivate people to recycle they have a monthly prize draw, and at the end of this month, it could see one lucky family win a car, Iphones and other wonderful prizes. 

What's next? 

Trashlucky have zoomed into our Year Group assemblies virtually to teach each student in our school why it is important to recycle, not only here at school, but also at our homes.

The new recycling station

This will lead to how to use our newly installed recycling station in our carpark. To ensure parents understand how to recycle with Trashlucky. St Andrews families will be sent more details of how parents can access the Trashlucky recycling programme, and how to register as a St Andrew’s family.

As a community, we will also be able to see how many children at school are recycling using our recycling centre, and children can earn certificates and house points for their recycling efforts.

What are the Ecobeasts?

The Ecobeasts are a Primary School club where students are empowered to address numerous environmental challenges directly with the support of Environmentally Sustainability Coordinators. 

The Ecobeasts was founded by teachers at St Andrews and has been recognised globally for its impact on the international school community. The St Andrews creation was awarded the ‘2020 Best Environmental Initiative’ for its role in collective and sustainable change in the community.

‘We hope to empower club members to educate themselves and others about environmental problems and solutions, make real-life changes in their community and inspire us all by sharing their achievements.’
