Primary and Foundation Stage: Teachers become Swim instructors! This week some of our teachers attained their Swim Coach accreditation licenses, the Inspectors call, Percy the Park Keeper says farewell and House Leaders are looking for songwriters!

This week, some of our teachers attained their Swim Coach accreditation licenses, the inspectors called through with positive news, Percy the Park Keeper said farewell and House Leaders look for songwriters!

As mentioned previously, last week saw two inspectors from the UK come from the EDT team and inspect the school to see if we were still reaching the ‘outstanding’ standards from our previous inspection. Please see the link below for that accreditation: previous EDT Accreditation

The focus of this visit was on a number of developments in the school, the three areas were:

  • Assessment, Data & Tracking

  • VSE, Technology and Pedagogy

  • Wellbeing

There will be a full report written by the EDT in a week or two but we have already had confirmation from them via email that we are still reaching the outstanding standards from their previous inspection. Their focus on Primary was last Tuesday and we received some very positive feedback. Highlights included:

  • Students enjoyed the school and liked their teachers

  • The school environment looked good, with learning being displayed well around the school

  • The lessons observed were all of high quality

We were particularly pleased with how well the students reacted to having visitors in the school. They were polite and welcoming which made us all feel very proud of them.

Well done STA!

Percy the Park Keeper leaves the building

After an all too short visit of only three weeks, Percy the Park Keeper, an English groundsman made famous by author Nick Butterworth, met the children one last time to say goodbye. He thanked them for having looked after him so well and also to receive a set of books written by the children to help him remember his stay in Bangkok. Before he headed off on a tuk-tuk to the airport, he showed the children some remarkable beans he had come across on a trip to Chatuchak Market. The beans were bright, shiny, and golden in colour - they were very unusual, one might even say magical. Before Percy departed, his final job in Thailand was to plant them. You can see from one of the pictures that something has started to grow where the beans were planted! Next week, the children will begin their next learning theme on Fairy Tales.

Goodbye Percy, we will all miss you!

Mr Colin 1

Congratulations to Khun Third, Ms Becca and Ms Meg, for completing their Swim Teacher Practitioner Training with ‘Swim Coach Asia.’ They worked very hard to fulfil all the requirements needed to complete the training and now have a qualification to teach swimming to our students. This will be very beneficial to the students in the future as the teachers can support their learning in the pool. Well done to you all!
