Primary school students at St. Andrews International School Bangkok continue their learning journey by progressing into Key Stage 2, which covers Years 3 to 6 (ages 8 to 11).
This important stage sees children grow from new learners to experienced students who are ready to take on the demands of middle and high school. We help students accomplish this by continuing to encourage their natural curiosity, all while teaching them to channel their enthusiasm into a more structured course of study.
Teaching and Learning in Key Stage 2
Based on the British National Curriculum, our Key Stage 2 primary curriculum further develops topics that were built on in previous stages. Our course of study draws on a range of themes which provide a balance of History, Geography, Science and Literature, in order to ensure high levels of interest and motivation on the children’s part. High academic standards are maintained through attention to the key objectives specified in the National Curriculum.
We enable all our students to realise their full potential by recognising that each child has different needs and preferences and tailoring our approach to suit the individual. We have high expectations of all our children and the work provided is challenging and stimulating. Small class sizes allow for an extremely high level of support for all students, helping them to work to their maximum potential.
In addition to the specialist lessons enjoyed by students in Key Stage 1, students in Key Stage 2 also benefit from learning an individual musical instrument (from Year 5) and participating in the MFL programme (from Year 3).
