Bonjour! I am May from France. I moved to the United Kingdom to complete my undergraduate studies at the University of Birmingham. In 2014, I gained my PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages from the University of Manchester. Prior St Andrews International School, I worked in a school in the North West of England where I taught there for four years. In 2018, I took up a position as a Subject Leader of Languages at an international school in Nairobi, Kenya.
I am a keen traveler who likes discovering new cultures, meeting new people and speaking different languages. I am constantly thinking of my next destination I am looking forward to explore Thailand and see all the South East Asian wonders.
My interests also involve dancing, cooking, board games, cycling and hiking. I really enjoy outdoors activities and in the past few years I was a coordinator of The Duke of Edinburgh Scheme. I pretty much enjoy trying new things and taking part in anything adventurous.
St Andrews is different from other schools because there is a strong community; a high commitment to work closely with students, parents and teachers to give all pupils a well-rounded education and ensuring they develop holistically. St Andrews has an inclusive ethos where each child is challenged, motivated and inspired to become a successful and an independent learner.
I share St Andrews’ values as this is in line with my teaching philosophy; I believe that all pupils are different and all their individual needs have to be met, so they can reach their full potential. I am happy to be part of a school rich in diversity, where students are bilingual or multilingual and the principles of global citizenship are promoted.
"Ms. May is an enthusiastic teacher who finds new ways to make language learning enjoyable and her lessons are interesting and engaging. We have many opportunities to practice our target language outside the classroom by doing cross curricular activities and projects."
"Ms. May always make us practice things we learned before and then teaching us something new vocabulary. She is very encouraging and my accent and confidence in speaking French is improving all the time."
