I am a cheerleader, advocate, guide, advisor, mentor, collaborator, life-long learner, international adventurer, and agent of change. More specifically, I am a Careers and Higher Education Counsellor with extensive experience in helping students navigate the IGCSE and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme curricula and apply to universities all around the world.
St Andrews International School is my third international school. In my previous Director of University Counselling roles, I created and launched University Counselling Programmes for students in Years 10 - 13, which included building a progressive curriculum to sequentially prepare students to pursue fulfilling career paths and apply to universities of ‘best fit’. My students have benefitted from my expertise in the complex North American application process and my experience, professional development and self-research of all other countries.
To St Andrews, I bring over 18 years of international education experience, first as an English teacher to English learners and most recently as a University Guidance Counsellor. I hold two California Teaching Credentials—Primary generalist and Secondary English/ESL. I have also earned two Master's degrees in education; my M.A. TESOL allows me to fully support English learners' individual needs, while my Masters of Counselling enables me to sensitively counsel both students and their families, which has proven to be invaluable in the intersection of collectivist Asia and individualistic international schools. In addition to these qualifications, I have obtained a Certificate in College Counselling and taken additional graduate counselling courses because professional development makes me the best Careers and Higher Education Counsellor I can be.
Personally, I have lived and worked in Asia for the past 14 years: Vietnam, Korea, China, Cambodia, and of course, Thailand. With a lot of family here in Thailand, my husband and I are happy to finally be ‘home’. In my free time, I love to read, walk, study psychology, cook, travel, and explore this beautiful country. My passion for helping people inspired me to also become Thailand's first Level 1 trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist.
St Andrews International School’ unique mission matches my own philosophy when it comes to preparing for careers and life after High School. I am committed to inclusivity and inspiring all students to be the best they can be, and I aspire to make each student’s Careers and Higher Education journey a safe, happy, supportive and stimulating one.
