The children were fascinated to learn about the importance of masks in Ancient Egypt. After researching using books and the internet the children discovered that the masks were used for two main purposes – as death masks and as ritual masks. The children thought carefully about which type of mask they wanted to make and spent time designing, explaining their choices. They then set to work on the first part of their mask, using paper mache to cover a balloon in several layers. A messy job but thoroughly enjoyed by all the children!
