Looking at the famous story “Whatever Next” by Jill Murphy, the children started on their adventure in their cardboard box rockets, gathering their picnics and space boots on the way! They have explored moon rocks, picnics in space, making their own rocets with different shapes, blocks and paints and engage in their very own space station role play areas!
As the children’s interest in space grew, we have covered topics of gravity and how things in space “float”. We in incorporated our STEAM project into this interest and used different positions in which the children could draw! Whilst lying down on the floor with paper underneath the table, the children were able to discover a very peculiar position to mark make, as if they were in space!
This week we continue our journey into space by looking at planets and discovering the different temperatures, colours and facts about each one! They will have the opportunity to make their own papier mache planets using the information they have learnt!
I wonder where our next adventure will take us...
