In Nursery we began our new theme ‘All aboard!’ as we begin to think about moving on.
The children have been making their own aeroplanes from paper and flying them in the classroom. They also have been busy making their own passports taking care to notice what they look like as they colour their hair and eyes in using true colours.
For phonics this week we listened for the /h/ at the beginning of words. The children tried on different hats and made silly soup in our very large hat. We read a story about Pirate Pete who lost his hat when it blew away in the wind! The children pretended to be pirates and made a big boat in the classroom. They made telescope and pretending to look through them telling us what they could see.
For maths we thought about another 3D shape: the cylinder. The children continued to be fascinated that the 2D shape can become a 3D shape when it came out of the magical bag! They painted with cylinders and make delicious cylinder sandwiches in the kitchen.
We will also thought about being safe around water as we begin to have more water play outside.
We watered our flowers in the garden and the potatoes that we planted, we are watching closely to see how they are growing
We have also been enjoying listening to the children talk about their special objects that they bring in from home.
