The Global Campus Visual Art entries have now been collected and there have been more than 70 wonderful entries from primary! This was the first year that Under 8s have been able to participate and they have produced some very creative pieces (see above for a small selection of children’s work).
Children were challenged to choose a winning creative writing entry to illustrate in any way they wished. They were encouraged to explore different kinds of art to represent the writing pieces. We had a range of entries using the following media:
- Paint - acrylic and water colour
- Pencil drawings
- Felt pen
- Digital art
Children who took part in the competition will receive a Global Campus certificate for participation. By taking part in the competition they will have developed the following skills:
- Improved artistic technique
- Explored different art media and developed skills in chosen medium
- Learnt about different ways to make art
The entries will initially be judged by the Primary Leadership Team who will select the top 5 entries from ‘Under 8s’ and ‘Ages 8-11’ which will be sent to the Global Campus. They will then choose one piece of art per creative writing piece to be published in the 2016/2017 anthology. The artist Phillippa Walter will assist in judging the competition for the Global Campus. You can see some of her work here: http://phillippawalter.tumblr.com/.
Special awards, as chosen by Phillippa Walter will be as follows:
First place for each age category
Winners can choose one of the following:
- High quality artist brush set
- Screen printing set
- Stop motion animation kit
For each age category: Highly commended (x2)
Well done to everyone who entered the competition and the best of luck!
