After 6 years of sand and skyscrapers in Dubai, I have made the move from the United Arab Emirates to the United States! I am originally from the Midlands but moved to Yorkshire for university. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of Leeds and PGCE in Business Education from Sheffield Hallam University before beginning my teaching career in Sheffield. I have been teaching for 8 years now and will be starting at BISB as a Business and Geography teacher. I also have experience as a University and Careers Counselor and enjoy offering advice about subject choices and university applications. Before completing my teacher training, I worked as part of the Virgin Group for Virgin Active. Inspired by one of my favourite entrepreneurs, Richard Branson, I value ambition, creativity, innovation and taking risks in the classroom.
Outside of lessons, I am involved in a range of different activities including CAS, Model United Nations, Duke of Edinburgh, and swimming. One of the highlights from my time in Dubai was to travel to Nepal with a group of 30 students to provide aid for children living in orphanages. I have continued to take an active role in charity work and returned to Kathmandu in 2015 following the devastating earthquake.
In my spare time, I am a keen trekker and take every opportunity to head off into the mountains. I have been lucky enough to travel around the Middle East and Asia to visit some of the world’s most beautiful and interesting places. Having visited Boston a number of times, I am excited to explore the surrounding areas and go on some new adventures.
