I am exceptionally proud of our Budapest students who have joined forces with a local charity, www.karitativ.hu, to help provide food for those District 3 residents who need it most. By doing so they are learning about hunger problems in our city and finding out what BISB can do to help.
Twice a week, three of our Sixth Formers (David Domokos, Anina Yu and Peter Csitkovics) are giving up an hour of their time to go to the charity’s food distribution point, meet the local residents who receive food support, hand out vegetables, fruit and bread, and very importantly build a lasting connection between our school and the charity. All three students have been very impressive in their first two visits this week, and will continue to work on the project.
Our aim is that by September 2017, this element of Service Learning will be built into our educational programme so that each Secondary school student, from Year 7 to Year 13, gets the chance to help out with Karitativ at least once or twice a year. David, Anina and Peter are paving the way for this to happen in the future.
