Juilliard's virtual visit

This week in the Performing Arts department we have been joined virtually from New York by our Juilliard Music and Drama curriculum specialists, Shanna Lesniak and Forrest Malloy.

Shanna Lesniak

Shanna Lesniak is a singer/actress and teaching artist who has been working with students for more than fifteen years. She believes that studies in the Performing Arts can inspire curiosity, wonder, and confidence in all aspects of learning. In addition to working with children, Shanna works with classroom and music teachers by leading professional development workshops that promote collaborative and innovative learning. One of her favourite performances includes Carousel at Lincoln Centre with the New York Philharmonic. Forrest Malloy holds an MFA from the Juilliard Drama Division where he received the Laura Pels Prize for Acting and an Alan D. Marks Career Fellowship. He has performed in theatres throughout the United States and taught drama to New York City school children in four of the five boroughs.

Forrest Malloy

Shanna and Forrest have been observing a range of lessons in Music and Drama with our students from Year 4 - Year 9. They have even virtually-delivered lessons in Year 5 and Year 7. As part of the week's activities, staff have participated in a range of professional development opportunities. Also, our students in 'The Addams Family' cast have been given the opportunity to work alongside our specialists in rehearsals this week. It has been a wonderful week of engaged learning for everyone involved and we look forward to our next visit from our Juilliard team later in the academic year.
