BISB Music Instrumental Team

Music lessons have all sorts of benefits for the brain. From increased neural blood flow to increased brain plasticity and gaining the ability to multitask. Music encourages social development, allowing students to connect and inspire collaboratively.

Music builds confidence and provides a sense of achievement. Whether you're listening, singing or playing, music stimulates the release of certain neurochemicals that lowers stress and anxiety. It is a universal language that provides joy and inspiration to us all.

The BISB instrumental team, says goodbye to both Mátyás and Szabolcs this academic year. Szabolcs has worked at BISB for four years as one of our guitar and voice teachers and has been a fabulous addition to the instrumental team. We also say goodbye to Mátyás our drum teacher, who has been with us for over 10 years and has been a credit to so many of our students and an absolute pleasure to work alongside. On behalf of both the students and our team, we would like to wish both well in their future endeavours. I would like to introduce three new instrumental teachers who will be joining the team in August 2022. 

Anna Kempton – Cello Teacher 

Anna, a British/Hungarian, has studied at the Royal College of Music in London achieving a master’s in performance and whilst in London was the principal cellist with the Royal Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, alongside her teaching. Her philosophy for education is about creating connections with her students to create a comfortable, trusting space for playing and learning. She believes that a good technical grounding is important for achieving full expressive potential and truly satisfying musical experiences and aims to instil lifelong respect and love for music in her students. Anna will be joining the instrumental team as our new Cello teacher from August 2022 and cellos will be available to rent from school to support and encourage our students to trial a new instrument. 

Dániel Bolgár – Drum Teacher 

Daniel is a conscientious, organised and professional percussion and drum kit teacher, having extensive experience in teaching and also management and administration. Noteworthy achievements include founding and leading a private boutique music school, Premier Music Institute, in Budapest while also teaching drums. Daniel has a Master of Music in Percussion Teaching from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Budapest and a Master of Performance from the Royal College of Music in London. Daniel will be joining the team in August 2022 as our new drum teacher. 

Katalin Zsubrits – Piano Teacher 

Katalin is a Hungarian pianist. She studied piano performance in Budapest, Hungary and has a postgraduate diploma from the UK. After her studies, she spent seven years in the Middle East (Kuwait, Qatar, UAE - Dubai and Abu Dhabi) as a solo pianist where she strived to create awareness of the benefits and importance of music education by teaching piano to children and young adults and organising piano recitals for them. She has worked with the Mid Wales Opera as a repetiteur and was a member of the Vienna Opera Academy Faculty in 2020. More recently she has been working with the Hungarian State Opera House and has established ‘Opera Studio Sopron’ which had its first event in May with international coaches and singers. Katalin will be joining the instrumental team as an additional piano teacher in August 2022. 

We are continuing to develop and expand the instrumental team and more information on this will come in August. Keep practising and have a lovely summer holiday.
