The British International School Budapest (BISB) Uniform
Our school uniform is modern and eco-friendly. The fabrics are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, which has dramatically reduced the amount of plastic ending up in landfills. All garments are produced ethically and are made with high-quality, comfortable fabrics.
You can order your child's uniform online at www.unimode.hu/bisb. Orders will be home delivered.
For parents of secondary students: please wait until the beginning of the school term before purchasing your child's House t-shirt. Their first House tie will be provided free of charge by their class teacher.
In the case of incorrect orders, the return slip should be completed indicating the new size required. Returning items should be dropped off at the school security cabin and the amended order will be sent back to school or home delivered if required.

Additional Uniform Requirements
Early years
- 1 x indoor shoes: preferably black, Velcro, sturdy shoes (no Crocs or slippers)
- 1 x outdoor shoes: suitable for the weather
Primary
- Black shoes (no boots) for indoor use
- Optional grey tights/leggings (girls)
PE
- Clean-soled, non-marking sports trainers
- Navy blue, plain long socks
- Flat-soled trainers or special Astroturf trainers. No screw-in studs, large moulded studs, or moulded blades
- Shinpads for football lessons
- Optional black or navy blue plain leggings (girls)
Appearance
- No make-up or nail varnish
- Jewellery: only one pair of simple stud earrings. One bracelet or a necklace may be worn for religious reasons. One simple friendship bracelet
- Hair must be of a natural colour and must be worn neatly. Hairbands and ties, if worn, should be discrete.
Secondary
- Plain black (including soles and laces) leather or leather-look polished shoes. Footwear should be business style, so no trainers, casual boots or shoes with apparent logos, noticeable buckles, straps or other decorations. Shoes should be sensible and offer appropriate protection; they must have some form of tread or grip on the sole and a heel no more than 3cm.
- Boots may not be higher than the ankle. Winter boots or other casual shoes must be changed for school shoes on arrival and stored in students' lockers.
- Tights must be full tights in plain black. Two-tone tights, stockings, knee-high hosiery, or any other colour or patterns are not to be worn. If students opt for socks instead, these must be ankle socks.

Trousers are defined as plain black business-style suit trousers or formal trousers. Jeans and jean-cut trousers are defined as those made from denim, with rivets, studs and/or back pockets and these are not to be worn. Skin-tight fitted trousers and leggings are not to be worn.

Skirt is not mandatory - students may opt to wear trousers instead.

School blazer: required as part of our winter uniform and optional as part of our summer uniform.

Winter uniform is worn from October half-term until the beginning of Term 3. Summer uniform can be worn from the beginning of Term 3 until the next October half-term.
PE

- Formal shirt with collar and tie.
- Formal tailored business shirt.
- Formal plain wool or similar jumper or cardigan, without logo, image or design.
Girls
- Business suit, formal dress, or business-style top with formal trousers or skirt.
- Formal jacket.
- Shirt: no t-shirts or strap tops.
- Skirts or dresses should be no more than 5cm above the knee.
- Formal plain wool or similar jumper or cardigan, without logo, image or design.
- Plain tights.
Footwear
- Footwear should be business style, so no trainers, casual boots or shoes with apparent logos. Shoes should be sensible and offer appropriate protection to the foot; they must have some form of tread or grip on the sole and a heel no more than 3cm. Outdoor footwear should be changed for school shoes before entering the school.
Secondary and sixth form appearance
- Discrete ring or bracelet.
- No more than one pair of simple stud or small hoop earrings.
- Facial piercings, tattoos, and other body art are not to be visible in school.
- Makeup and nail varnish must be subtle (barely noticeable). Bold colours, patterns, and other decorations on nails may not be worn. Long nails of any kind are neither practical nor safe and should not be worn.
- Hair must be of a naturally-occurring colour and must be worn neatly. Long hair must be tied in a way consistent with health and safety requirements in practical subjects.
