Michelle Simons

Year 3 Marigold Teacher

BA (Hons) Early Years; Care and Education with Childhood Studies, Northumbria University

GTP Primary Education, The University of Worcester

Prior to teaching, Michelle worked for Sheffield City Council supporting children with additional needs. After two years she moved to the midlands and worked alongside social care as a family support worker within children's centres. Michelle retrained as a teacher in 2012. Her first teaching post was in an outstanding nursery school in Hillfields, Coventry. From there she moved on to teach in an infant school in Rugby where she ran a large nursery, before teaching Year 2 after having her daughter in 2016. Michelle achieved the position of science coordinator and was successful in achieving the primary science quality mark (PSQM) for the implementation of science throughout the school. Michelle also held the positions of PSHE coordinator, RE coordinator and geography coordinator.

Michelle moved to Budapest in January 2020 with her husband and daughter. She joined BISB in March 2020 as a cover teacher and exam invigilator. Michelle was successful in applying for a full-time Year 3 teaching position in April 2021. Michelle believes children learn best when they feel happy and safe.

In her free time, Michelle enjoys Pilates, horse riding and trips out in her VW campervan.
