Anna Piry

Anna Piry

Head of Hungarian

MA (Literature); MA (History)

Peter Pázmány Catholic University

Just before university Anna spent a year in Switzerland brushing up on her French. After five years at university, she successfully graduated in the faculty of Literature and History. Additionally, she obtained qualifications in teaching French and Latin. Starting her teaching career in 1997, after two years she joined The British International School, Budapest to develop and implement the Hungarian curriculum and IB. Throughout  her time in BISB, Anna has been promoted to Head of Hungarian, leading a department and teaching throughout Secondary, including the IB Diploma Programme.

She has achieved the highest qualification in IB courses (category 3) and she was invited to be a member of the committee editing the Hungarian PBL.

She thinks it very important that children, through studying literature, gain a broad historical and cultural knowledge and enjoy their studies. One of her main principles is to have students experience the joy of reading.

Her spare time is mostly dedicated to reading; she is also a collector of antiquarian books. Anna is fond of historical movies and visiting the original settings of such books and films, especially in France, accompanied by her family and friends.
