Scott started his career in 1999 as a teacher of Physical Education and Mathematics at a large comprehensive secondary school in Northamptonshire. In 2003, he accepted his first international post in the USA at a newly-formed British-curriculum school and has since taught in international schools in Spain, Brunei and the UAE. During his career, he has taught both Mathematics and Physical Education at KS3, GCSE and A Level, taught Physical Education at KS1 and KS2 level and held several leadership positions, including Head of Physical Education, Head of Mathematics and Deputy Head of Sixth Form. Scott’s most recent position in the UAE has been as Deputy Head of Senior School, a role in which he was responsible for assessment and reporting, curriculum development and timetabling, and was part of the leadership team that led the school to three successive outstanding inspections in three years.
Scott joined BISB in August 2016 and is excited to be a part of the NAE group. He has been a guest speaker at several conferences in Dubai on ‘Assessment’ and ‘Using Data Effectively’ and has written a case study on ‘Using Assessment Data’ for Global Leadership Education. Scott is currently studying for an MA in International Education and will be looking to bring aspects of his research to his role at BISB.
Scott believes that one of the main facets of education should be to produce happy, confident and independent young men and women who understand the responsibilities of being global citizens in the modern world. He takes great pride in creating working environments in which pupils and teachers are engaged, inspired and challenged. Scott believes that instilling awe and wonder into lessons and presentations, devising innovative and imaginative ways of communicating information and setting every pupil and teacher appropriate challenges are essential in creating a school that contains stimulated and motivated people who are courageous, ambitious and determined.
Scott is a keen sportsman, football and golf in particular, and a lifelong Manchester City supporter. He is a passionate musician and enjoys performing and listening to live music. Scott is an avid reader, with Rohinton Mistry and David Mitchell among his favourite authors, and is looking forward to exploring Budapest and the surrounding region with his family.
