Katie Belshaw

Director of World Languages

BA (Hons), French and Hispanic Studies, University of Birmingham

PGCE, Spanish and French, The University of Leeds

Prior to training as a teacher Katie worked as a translator for a travel magazine publishing team. Katie began her teaching career in a high achieving comprehensive school in Solihull, UK and has subsequently worked in international schools in Malawi and Thailand as a Head of Languages. Katie has worked for Nord Anglia for 3 years and completed her Middle Leadership Programme qualification with Nord Anglia University last academic year.

Katie is passionate about internationalism and believes the learning of additional languages enables children and young people to better appreciate and understand the diversity of the world. Her language lessons involve a lot of technology and the development of non-subject specific problem solving skills that train students to overcome real life practical communication barriers.

Katie loves the outdoors and is a great advocate for extra-curricular learning having led hiking trips in the Alps and the Himalayas. In her free time she enjoys walking her dog, running and paddleboarding.
