Hear from our Head of Secondary - Global Opportunities

Monday 5th to Thursday 7th December saw the annual South East Asia Nord Anglia conference take place in Hanoi, Vietnam. A superb opportunity to network with the other leadership teams in the region and the opportunity to put heads together to come up with solutions to common issues across the region.

Monday 5th to Thursday 7th December saw the annual South East Asia Nord Anglia conference take place in Hanoi, Vietnam. A superb opportunity to network with the other leadership teams in the region and the opportunity to put heads together to come up with solutions to common issues across the region.

On the agenda was a series of workshops whereby people could share ideas, experiences and perspectives on all things education. I was luckily enough to be invited to talk about the Northbridge International School Cambodia student café and the impact student leadership has on schools. It allowed me to interview students and teachers involved in the initiative. A big thanks to Ms. Vivien and her grade 11/12 Business Management students who contributed to the research with their valuable views. I was very proud to be able to share the success story of the café as a case study of true student leadership and innovation with a clear social conscience through the plans for future community projects.

Remember profits of the café go towards benefitting the local community as part of the School Wide Action Plan:  Strategy #2: Leadership and Service - we will make a positive contribution to society with profits to be directed at making a difference in Cambodia.

Student leadership is paramount in any school and especially one that is on the road to change, which is certainly the case for Northbridge.  Speak to anyone involved with Northbridge International School and they will tell you that the school has a clear direction and part of a school transformation is having genuine student leadership at the heart of the process.  It is certainly a strategic area for the school and expect to see developments in the empowerment of students through more genuine leadership opportunities for the Student Council (STUCO).
