BISC students are proud to announce the launch of their new online e-magazine, live on the web now at http://biscnews.com. It's a one-stop shop for the latest in learning, creativity, inspirations and news told from the most valued school perspective -- the students themselves.
The e-zine effort was spearheaded by Mrs. Molly Moffat, Year 1 teacher, in an effort to add a "wow" factor to writing. "I thought an online platform would make writing more modern, purposeful and relevant for the kids," said Mrs. Moffat, who hopes children will embrace the enthusiasm and integrate more stories, videos, cartoons and apps.
"There are many faces to literacy and it doesn't just need to be writing in a notebook."
Today's launch includes sections like Learning News, featuring Year 6's latest entry point as pioneers; Travel, where Miami is a "one of a kind place;" Hobbies that introduces the school's Critter Crew; and Short Stories which is a must-read for everyone.
Year 6 took complete ownership over the first set of articles from first idea to execution. Future updates will take place on an approximate weekly basis and involve various year groups as contributing writers and editors.
