My journey into teaching started when I completed a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education at Bath Spa University. I spent 2 wonderful years teaching in the Southwest of England. However, I always aspired to enter the world of international teaching. I then moved to teach Year 4 with PE coordinating responsibilities in the Turks and Caicos Islands. This position gave me an invaluable insight into the international teaching arena, as well as white sands and crystal-clear waters!
I was then fortunate to be offered a position working at The British International School of Boston. One of my favorite things about living in such a busy city was the sports. However, I have to say I was converted to supporting the Patriots! Whilst working at the British International School of Boston I was lucky enough work alongside MIT through the NAE collaboration. This allowed me to take on the responsibility of STEAM in the primary school, where I observed how powerful project-based learning can be. For the past year I have been working at the British School of Lisbon. Living in such a vibrant and diverse city has been an absolute joy, and I have managed to add many a recipe to my cooking repertoire.
Keeping active has always been a huge part of my daily routine. I enjoy working out at the gym and playing sport, including rugby union, football, cricket and golf. I have played rugby for 15 years (in 3 countries) and enjoy the physicality and comradery involved in the team sport. Playing the Turks and Caicos Islands International rugby team was a huge honor.
Outdoors is where I am happiest, whether it is by the beach, in the water or in the countryside. Swimming, cycling, skiing or hiking, you name it and I will do it! I am extremely excited to be joining the BISC community. I have always enjoyed my time visiting Charlotte and the Carolinas. I can’t wait to hike in the Smokey Mountains, cheer on the Panthers and explore the Queen City!
