Mr. McNeill is our Learning Resource and Aspiring Leader.
The new year is a time of reflection, for the year, and progress that we have made so far and for what lies ahead of us. Those busy few weeks before the winter holidays seem like a distant memory now, but memories that highlight what I think we do best.
The Dance Team’s stunning performance of ‘Lost Boy’ where several staff members’ eyes began to water. The MIT Curiosity Days where Year 6 and Reception students lay on the floor engrossed in discussion trying to answer all of life’s big questions. The Winter Panto where staff and colleagues demonstrated just want team work can do. Not to mention the pieces of fantastic work that students come to show me on a daily basis, telling me how they persevered to achieve their learning goal, their eyes lit up by the ambition that their teacher has nurtured within them.
My colleagues astound me with their talents and commitment to education. They lead by example and show a willingness to adapt to new ideas that put learning in the spotlight. And so, when I am asked ‘As a teacher, why is it important that our students learn from the best?’ my response is simply that we learn from those around us and that it is only when we work together that we truly grow stronger. Value the talents that surround you, they are gifts.
A very Happy New Year to you all.
