Teaching was something I always wanted to do while growing up in Lincolnshire. Before moving to Chicago, I taught in both Key Stages 1 and 2 in a highly successful school in the outskirts of Liverpool following my graduation from University there.  While at University, I had the opportunity to do a placement at a school in Milwaukee, WI.  It was from there that I made my first visit to Chicago and fell in love with this wonderful city that I now call ‘home’.

I am originally from the city of Glasgow, Scotland. Always keen to be creative, I completed my undergraduate degree in Textile Design at Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art at Dundee University. However, I soon realized that I wanted to channel that creative energy into working with children and after graduating I completed my postgraduate degree in Primary Education. In my nine years’ experience as a classroom teacher, I have had the pleasure of teaching in locations all over Scotland, including six years at a school near beautiful Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles. This included seeing the steam train from the Harry Potter films pass my school every morning in the summer term! My love for travel and visits to U.S. cities inspired me to move Chicago last year, and I have enjoyed every minute of living in such a vibrant and diverse city.

I grew up on the beautiful south coast of England with my two brothers, a sister and a succession of pets. I attended Mountbatten School in Romsey, Hampshire and went on to study for a bachelor’s degree in Communication at Bournemouth University. When I was young, I had always wanted to be a primary school teacher like my mother, so decided to venture up to London and undertake a PGCE at Kingston University. I qualified as a teacher in 2006 and made the move back to Bournemouth.

I am originally from London and after gaining my first degree in English Literature and American studies in York, I moved back to London to complete my teaching degree. I then continued to teach in a school in East London for two years in both Nursery and Reception. I then swapped London for the hot desert of Dubai!

I worked for Nord Anglia in Dubai and spent two years teaching Nursery. I have now spent the last four years in Chicago and have really felt like this city has become ‘home’. I am excited to be teaching Year 1 again this year and being a Jolly Jaguar! I strive to make learning engaging, challenging and exciting for the children, I am looking forward to continuing to be able to do so this year.

I was born and raised in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. I come from a large, close-knit family of six and have an even larger amount of extended family members in México, where both my parents are from. I love spending time with my son, my family and friends; I enjoy exploring new places to eat, taking pictures, dancing and more! After graduating in May 2008 from Loyola University Chicago, I continued working in retail and enjoyed traveling. Since joining BISC-LP in 2009, I’ve assisted in classes from Nursery to Year 2 and in the Spanish Language Department for Key Stage 2. I have had so much fun with my students and have developed great relationships with them and the parents!

I was born and raised in Bettendorf, Iowa. From there I went to the University of Northern Iowa where I studied Exercise Science and Dance. Upon graduating I have worked as a full time dance teacher for 4 years. Through teaching dance, I developed a love for inspiring children to be the best they can be. This has brought me to BISC-LP as a learning assistant in a proper classroom. I am also working towards my Masters in Education at DePaul University.
