Since a very early age I always dreamt of being a teacher, asking my father to write sums for me to mark! I always knew what I wanted and this drive and passion is what has got me here today. Knowing that I could make a difference to someone’s life is such a thrill!

I grew up in a small seaside town in East Sussex, England. After graduating from Canterbury Christ Church University College with a degree in Primary Education, I taught in East Sussex, Kent and most recently Hong Kong. All of these have provided me with new skills, new experiences and lots of fantastic teaching opportunities, which I look forward to sharing at British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park.

I can’t wait to start with the Year 2 team and am excited to be joining such a forward thinking, creative and innovative school. Living and working in Chicago is an exciting thought, and I can’t wait to get to know the city and find out all that it has to offer.

In my spare time, I like to stay healthy and enjoy long walks in the fresh air and exploring new parks and places. I am also a creative person and am particularly interested in modern calligraphy and typography, I am looking forward to continuing my practicing and getting better at this!

I am originally from a small town in Aberdeenshire , Scotland. I moved to Edinburgh in 2001 to study my undergraduate degree in Educational Studies at the University of Edinburgh. However, I quickly realized that my niche was working with children so I was excited to be accepted into the post-graduate Primary Education Teaching program at Strathclyde University, Glasgow. Once I completed my teaching qualification I accepted my first teaching post in a large Primary School in Glasgow. I spent five very happy years there, working with and learning from some inspirational team members and staff. In 2013, the opportunity to work at the British International School of Chicago arose and I was very fortunate to be offered a position in the KS1 department.

Teaching was something I always wanted to do after having such a positive school experience of my own while growing up in a small town in Lincolnshire, England. Before moving to Chicago I taught in both Key Stages 1 and 2 in a highly successful primary school in the outskirts of Liverpool following my graduation from University. Chicago is such a vibrant city with so much to do. I enjoy exploring the city and especially trying out all the wonderful restaurants and watching the local sports teams. I am a keen sports fan and enjoy keeping fit in my spare time.

I am from Chicago and what I love most about this marvelous city is it’s ethnic diversity. It’s amazing the amount of cultures are represented and loved by people of different backgrounds. I received my Bachelors in Business in 2011 from Lane College. I enjoy sports, music, dancing and traveling. I like to think I bring the required energy from each of those into the classroom. I feel children can really benefit from having excitement throughout the day.
