    I am originally from Ireland, where I worked as a journalist for four years after graduating. Following a brief stint in Australia, I moved to Brighton in England to train as a teacher, where I remained for four years in before moving to Chicago in 2015. This city is incredible, every week there is an opportunity to explore something new no matter where your tastes lie, be it sports, the arts or food. My favorite thing has been exploring all of the different neighborhoods.

    Kirsty Gallo

    I grew up in Leicestershire, England with my brother, Adam and mum and dad. I always enjoyed playing 'teachers' from an early age and graduated from Chester College in Cheshire in 2000 with a teaching degree. My first years were spent teaching in Birmingham, England until I moved to Chicago in 2009. Here, I am able to continue my love of travelling and playing sports by adding Central America and China to my list of places travelled since living here and even played netball for the U.S.A. squad in 2012 in Trinidad! I have since become a keen Crossfitter and continue to enjoy new challenges as and when I can find them! Chicagois a wonderful city and it continues to provide me with much happiness. From roller-blading along the lakefront path at sunset, to battling those chilly, wintery storms, Chicago is the place I call 'home'.

    Judith Scholes

    Originally born in the North of England and moving frequently both within the UK and internationally, our family relocated to Chicago four years ago as a result of my husband’s job. We have all embraced living in the ‘Second City’, constantly awed by the skyline, the waterfront and the many opportunities for new experiences. I have especially enjoyed running along the lakeshore, live storytelling and rowing with my daughter’s crew team on the river. At home, a menagerie of musical instruments is a key component of family life, inspiring our eclectic musical tastes. After pursuing other careers I retrained as a teacher in 2006 and subsequently worked in both public and private schools.

    As well as teaching across different key stages, I have enjoyed roles as Head of Year, leading Modern Foreign Languages and English and most recently being Director of Curriculum Studies. Initially moving to Chicago without a U.S. work visa , I have been pursuing an MA in Educational Leadership and I hope to complete my thesis this summer . I have, however, missed being in the classroom, and I am thrilled to be joining the Year 3 team at Lincoln Park.

    As a linguist and a passionate traveler, I am excited to be part of a truly global network of schools that embrace a holistic approach to education. I am especially pleased to be leading Mathematics for Key Stage Two. With my mum being a Math teacher when I was growing up, I was always surrounded by numbers, but it wasn’t until I later that I really appreciated numerical relationships that create mathematical fluency and understanding . In my classroom, I have always made it a personal mission to help all students to have fun with numbers, embrace the valuable learning that comes from making mistakes, and become confident mathmagicians.
