I started dancing at age three at my hometown academy. After high school, I began to further my technical training and studied dance choreography, history, kinesiology and many dance styles at Columbia College Chicago. In 2012, I graduated with a double bachelor of arts degree in dance, concentrating in teaching and performance.
Outside of school, I became part of the company Hip Hop ConnXion Chicago where I was a hip hop dancer in Adero’s “Animated” music video and performed in a variety of shows. I was also one of the founders of the company Crossfade, which performed at Carnival Choreographer’s Ball and several competitions resulting in first place finishes.
Throughout my years at Columbia, I trained under many professional artists that are still involved in Chicago’s dance industry today. I also taught tap, ballet, jazz, modern and hip hop at Algonquin Academy of Dance. I choreographed multiple dance routines for recitals, dance team competitions, solos and winter musicals. In April 2014, I became certified in Zumba and extended my certification this past summer with Zumba Kids and Zumba Kids Jr.
In 2013, I joined BISC as a Nursery Learning Assistant where I was able to really fulfill my enjoyment of working with children. I moved up with the class to Reception in 2014 where I pleasingly saw them grow incredibly fast in general education and social skills. At the beginning of this year, I became the Dance Specialist, and I’m enjoying every second of it!
I grew up in Marengo, Illinois with cornfields and a motocross track in my backyard! I love the country outdoors and try to visit home as often as possible. I also enjoy going to the movie theatre, museums and zoos. Growing up with a supportive family has pushed me to be where I am today. My family supports my father and brother with their motocross races every weekend and my mother, sister and me with our dance performance and teaching. All of us also know how to play multiple instruments! It’s safe to say that my competitive and creative self is all due to my family.
