A Chicago native, Rachel Blumenthal maintains an active freelance career here in the city. She performs as a regular substitute with orchestras like the Chicago Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Grant Park Music Festival. In addition to freelancing and teaching here in Chicago, she holds permanent positions in the Santa Fe Opera and the Sarasota Opera. She completed fellowships at the Boston Symphony's Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Music Festival, and National Repertory Orchestra, among others. Rachel teaches in the Department of Chamber Music at the University of Chicago in addition to maintaining a lively private studio. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music from Carnegie Mellon University.
