In 2013 I achieved my childhood ambition and became the Headteacher of my own secondary school. I led and managed the school for three years before the opportunity arose to take my skills and experience to Washington, DC as Head of Secondary at the British International School. I spent two and a half years at BISW and helped to transform the secondary school while also developing my knowledge and understanding of what it takes to be a successful school leader in an international private school in an American setting. I am now proud to have the opportunity to put my learning into practice here in Chicago.
My educational philosophy is that it is “all about the learning” and my focus will be on ensuring that teachers skillfully ensure that their students master the subject matter that they are teaching, all while having some fun and creating some memorable moments along the way.
I am a family man and have been married to my wife Linsey for more than twenty-five years now. I have two children, Annie (age 19) and William (age 17). Annie graduated from BISW in 2018 and is now back in England studying Medicine at Sheffield University, while William is a Year 12 student and will remain at BISW until he completes his IB Diploma there.
Outside of work I enjoy photography, listening to music and watching and playing a variety of sports. I also enjoy travelling and have been lucky enough to visit (and photograph) some amazing sights in many places across the globe. At home I enjoy cooking, baking and reading and my ideal evening is one spent with my family enjoying some good food and watching a movie or two.
