After studying abroad in Ecuador as an English teacher during undergrad, I decided that I wanted to work abroad again. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and once I finished, I accepted an opportunity to teach English as a foreign language in Madrid, Spain. I taught a variety of levels from as young as one year old to adult working professionals.
My original one-year plan to work and live in Madrid turned into four wonderful, adventure-filled years. During this time, I decided to pursue my Master of Education in Literacy with an emphasis in Reading Specialist and English as a Second Language (ESL). I am expected to graduate in February 2021 from Concordia University of Nebraska. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, traveling and playing board games. I absolutely love working in an international setting and am ecstatic to be part of the Learning Support team at BISC-South Loop.
