After graduating from University of Warwick, I began my teaching career in Beijing where I taught English IGCSE and A Level. I found the sheer hard work and commitment of my Chinese students truly inspirational, and it made me want to instill that passion in other students. Moving to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to teach history and English IGCSE exposed me to a completely different culture and stretched me as a teacher to ensure my lessons were engaging and meaningful for all students.
I eventually returned to my hometown, Birmingham, to gain my Post Graduate Certificate in Education through Teach First while working in a school in one of the most deprived areas of the city. It is this experience that has further emphasized to me how life-shaping education is and has encouraged me to continually develop my teaching skills so that I can provide the best possible education to my students.
Outside of work you will find me always on the go. I am a keen runner so I often have organized races to train for, and I am often accompanied by the best training partner I could ask for – my dog! I also try to visit new places any time I have an opportunity and on more relaxed occasions I simply love to spend quality time with friends and family enjoying great food.
