  • About the Production

Our production of “West Side Story” is a glowing demonstration of the students’ aim to Be Ambitious in all endeavours. You’ll witness not only great talent but also the outcome of superb teamwork and determination over many weeks of rehearsals. The students auditioned for roles early in Autumn Term and since then have devoted hours before school, after school and on weekends to creating a show-stopper.

Throughout their preparation, students enjoyed unique opportunities to collaborate with staff and local performing arts professionals. The Dance Squad trained with Ms. Laura Towell, P.E. Specialist, as well as Juilliard alumna Macy Sullivan, a professional dancer. Meanwhile, the Band worked closely with the Music Department to conquer and adapt a challenging selection of music composed by Leonard Bernstein. Cast also had the chance to receive coaching from Manon Spadaro, Founding Artistic Director of Chicago Youth Shakespeare. Adding to this spectacular showcase of community spirit are several special contributions by many teachers and parents across the school. The Music Department thanks you for your enthusiasm and helping hands.
