Grade 4 Explore Chinese History

This Wednesday the pupils and parents of Grade 4 had a special presentation to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival. For the last number of weeks the children have been researching Chinese history as part of their IPC unit ‘Time Tunnel’. They put a lot of effort into finding out different facts about 6 major dynasties; The Qin, Tang, Han, Song, Yuan and Ming. They were amazed to find out how many items and ideas that we use today were invented or discovered by the ancient Chinese. The children wrote narratives pretending to live in these periods of history and yesterday presented the museum displays they created to their parents and fellow students. As a special treat our facilities manager, Mr Eric Liu, who is a keen historian, gave an informative presentation to the parents and children on different aspects of these Chinese dynasties. The children had a great time and have developed their understanding of the fascinating history of China. We’re looking forward to our Spring Festival celebrations in Leman tomorrow where all the children will be performing traditional songs and dances taught to them by their Chinese language teachers.  Xin Nian kuai le.
