Grade 4 had a fantastic class trip to WeiRan Flower Sea last Friday. The school was invited by Chengdu Children’s League and Longquan District Government to send some pupils to experience the peach blossom festivities and have a friendship visit with the pupils from Longquan Experimental Elementary School.

Because Grade 4 has the IPC units “It’s a Wonderful World” and “Roots, Shoots and Fruits”, Ms. Tina gave us the opportunity to go. We arrived at Wei Ran Flower Sea at 10:00AM and were brought on a 30 minute train ride through the park. Upon finishing, the children were able to pick flowers to use for an art activity by extracting the flower pigment to dye linen handkerchiefs. After this, the pupils painted kites and got to fly them in the park.

At 12pm, it was time to travel to Longquan Experimental Elementary School where our gracious hosts had a delicious lunch prepared for us. After that we were separated into groups to sample some cultural and art activities. We got to try tie dyeing, calligraphy, Sichuan dance and papercutting. The staff and children from Longquan were really helpful and kind, and we appreciate their friendship greatly. It was a wonderful trip and we’d like to thank Ms. Tina Chen, Ms. Cee Deng, Mr. Cameron Bradley and our Bus Drivers Mr. Cai Yuan and Mr. Deng Yong Jiu.

Thanks so much to the wonderful staff and pupils of Longquan Experimental Elementary School for their hospitality. Thanks to the representatives from Chengdu Children’s League for their patience and attention to the children. Many thanks to Longquan District Government for arranging thistrip. The children will remember it for a long time to come.
