Merry Christmas from the EAL Department.
The grade 7 science students are busying ourselves with new science vocabulary on Newton’s three Laws of Motion. They will be conducting some exciting experiments that will showcase in upcoming science fair after break. The grade 6’s will join the fair when they demonstrate their experiments on the phases of matter. We look forward to seeing our parents!
Moving along in history, the grade 6s have been spending their time between the Tigris and Euphrates river in the ancient land of Mesopotamia learning about the development of clocks, maps, the wheel and many other innovations. This class will be able to put their own skills to work when they produce their own ancient inventions for our school museum.
In our Language and Literature course, grade 6s are wrapping the minds and tongues around poetry. So far the students have had quite the time reciting and trying to read many different poems. By the end of the unit, the grade 6s will have a poetry reading for the secondary school reciting their own work or the work of one of the great masters.
In the past few weeks, EAL primary groups have been reading books in the topics of major festivals, places, people and animals in the world. Grade 2&3 children are matching rimes to pictures. G4&5 students are working hard on their writing task “ If I were in A Snow Globe”.
We hope you all have a safe and wonderful holiday season. Cheers from EAL!
