SK News

Senior Kindergarten classes recently finished their IPC unit, “Look and Listen”, exploring light and sound. SK students learned about sound through hands-on activities including painting to music, making sound from everyday items, watching sound travel, composing music from glasses of water, and playing with a variety of instruments. We celebrated our learning with a drum circle, playing on the drums we made from recyclable materials and patterns created in art class.

We also enjoyed learning about light through engaging experiments and play. We took learning outside to draw shadows, make shadow “sculptures”, and created our very own shadow puppet performances.

We explored symmetry and patterns both with items in our class and the school’s surrounding environment.

We have just moved on to an exciting new unit, “Stories People Tell” and have loved kicking it off with traditional stories from guest readers of diverse backgrounds. We look forward to further investigation in myths and legends from around the world.
