Last year we introduced the curriculum model of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP),pictured above to parents. This programme is designed for grades 6-10 and is intended to be a strong preparation for the IB Diploma Programme ,which we offer in grades 11-12. The adoption of the MYP harmonizes the student learning experiences in grades 6-12. As the centre of the IB MYP is a development model of the student ages 11-16. This programme is specifically designed to support the social, emotional and physical growth as well as the mental development of adolescent learners.
We are currently in the process of applying to be a candidate MYP school. Once accepted we can officially begin teaching the Middle Years Programme. We have already been working on harmonizing our grade 6-10 programme with the implementation of our pre-IB programme in grades 9-10. Your students should be hearing more about the Middle Years Programme in their classes this year and they should be learning about MYP standards assessment.
Please see the ibo.org website for more information on the Middle Years Programme we are following in grades 6-10.
You can contact Mrs Mindorff, our IB Coordinator, for any questions you may have about the IB MYP.
