For over 12 years as a Master Level bilingual school counselor and licensed mental health clinician, Anya has worked with culturally and linguistically diverse students, facing varied life stressors, trauma and mental health challenges, to support them in discovering their own sense of self, well being and purpose.
Anya enjoys hiking, skiing, cooking, water sports, dance and theater and love sharing these activities with her family and friends. She was born and raised in the culturally diverse San Francisco Bay Area. In her life she has traveled, and lived throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, North America, and Central America.
Living in the cloud forest of Costa Rica she worked as an assistant teacher at a bilingual environmental school, became fluent in Spanish, and explored Central America by bus on the Pan-American Highway. In Bali and Thailand she painted traditional ceremonial masks and caught eels by lamp light in the rice paddies. On an archeological dig in Menorca, she learned about Spanish history and how to make paella on an open fire.
