Year 5 res 2

Year 5 Students head off to to explore the northern hills of Beijing.

On Tuesday 16th April 2019, thirty-one year 5 students and four teachers set off on a residential school trip to explore the northern hills of Beijing.

During the trip, the students learnt to work as a team, they faced lots of both physical and personal challenges as well as developing their self-confidence. The first team building task was an outdoor survival task of building and setting up their own tents. we saw some amazing team work. During the rock and rope climbing activities (on our second day ) the students were particularly challenged and, braving the windy conditions, lots managed to reach their target height.

On the afternoon of our second day, we hiked up a mountain to see a waterfall, which was in preparation for our Great Wall hike.  We lost count of the number of steps we climbed but it was a lot!

On the morning of our third day, we headed off to hike the Huanghuacheng  section of  the Great Wall.  This is an unrestored section of the wall. We entered the Great Wall in true warrior style - up a ladder and through a window!  A very exciting and unusual way to start our hike. The students were amazed at the steepness of the wall and some literally crawled up on their hands and feet. The views were outstanding and the hike thoroughly exhausting.

All in all it was an educational, challenging and most importantly a fun trip. Well done Year 5 you were awesome!
