School Buses

The British School of Nanjing runs a safe and efficient bus service, with bus routes covering the major residential compounds of Nanjing.

All bus routes are supervised by a bus monitor to supervise the children and to ensure that behaviour and safety is acceptable.

A comprehensive bus policy is in place to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the service.

To ensure the efficient running of the bus service, we ask parents to give as much notice as possible via email to desk@bsn.org.cn if their child will not be using their usual bus service either to or from school.

IMPORTANT UPDATES:

School starts, officially at 8:15 am and the registration will take place at that time.

The end of the school day has moved up to 4 pm from Monday to Thursday, and on 3 pm on Friday.

As part of our commitment to environmental protection, we encourage parents to make use of public transport, our school buses or, where practical, to walk to school. However, we are aware many of our parents drive their own cars or have private drivers and that a large number of parents arrive for drop off and pick up at the same time. Congestion is an issue around many schools in Nanjing, including BSN; to ease this we open our car park at certain times and encourage parents to ‘drop off and go’

School Days (Monday to Friday)

The area immediately in front of the school is marked as a “Kiss and Go” Zone for parents to say goodbye to their children and drop them safely at school. The driver of the car must remain in the car and should limit the stop to two minutes. Drivers who are asked to move their cars will be expected to follow the guidance of our guards. No cars should be parked at the entrance to our car park or drive way.

Families using the car park will be expected to present a parent ID card and collect a ‘key fob’ from the guards at the gate to the car park. Parents must ensure cars have left this area outside of the permitted times as our school buses will be using the car park.

The car park is open:

8:00 am – 8:15 am

3:45 – 4:30 pm  * (2:45-3:30 pm on Fridays)

It is important to note that in order to fully use the 40 available spaces, the parking lines clearly indicate the parking slots. Please park vehicles into the parking slots and note the car park is non- smoking area and engines must be switched off whilst parked. CCTV is in operation 24 hours a day in the car park and vehicles will be banned from using the basement parking facility if the rules are not respected.

Weekends and other events

The car park is often opened for school events and weekend activities for those who wish to use it. There may be exceptions to this – such as the Summer Fair – but parents are be notified if so. Generally, the car park will be open 30 minutes prior to school activities and will close 30 minutes after any activities have finished.

Drivers are expected to present at least one parent / visitor ID card and to exchange either their Chinese driving license or vehicle license for a key fob to operate the lift. The guard will return the license in exchange for the numbered key fob as you leave the car park.
