I graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Teaching of Physical Education at the National Autonomous University in Heredia. I was a Volleyball player for more than 20 years, National Champion, Central American Champion and Captain of the National Team of Costa Rica.
I began teaching in 1986 at the Liceo de Coronado working as a secondary level teacher and as a coach of the Women's Volleyball team. From there, I moved to teach young women in secondary school at the Colegio Monterrey, where I was also the coach of the volleyball team.
In 1989 I began teaching Physical Education to Preschool and Elementary School children at Country Day School. Here, I am also involved in the After School Activities Program, where I am the Volleyball and Swimming coach for boys and girls Prep through grade 5. I love the energy that is transmitted through our PE classes and I enjoy watching the children take risks and learn new skills.
In my free time I enjoy cooking, going to the beach, gardening, and going to the gym and weekends I enjoy running outdoors with my dog Tea. I live in Sarchi Sur with my husband; we have a 21 year old daughter who plays volleyball with the University of Minnesota Crookston.
