Catalina Castro - Country Day School

Second Grade Teacher

After receiving my bachelor of Special Education from the Universidad de Costa Rica I started working for the Ministerio de Educación as a special education teacher in the special support services for 5 years. I was responsible for the curricular adaptations of students from 1st to 6th grade.
I was relocated to Liberia, Guanacaste, to continue with the special support program. While I was working in Guanacaste I was tutoring a group of kids for English private lessons and the opportunity to work in a private international school came up.
I worked in Guanacaste for 5 years in early childhood and first grade. I also taught Spanish to adults from different countries and started studying a Licenciatura en Administración Educativa. Living in Guanacaste and having contact with people from different countries and cultures was a very meaningful and enriching experience.
When I moved back to San José I worked at preschool and first grade in a private school. I finished the Licenciatura en Administración Educativa and kept tutoring students of different levels on different subjects.
This is my 16th year teaching and my second year at Country Day School. I feel this is my home. I love teaching second grade and I cannot picture myself doing something else every day.
