My name is Kerry Shanahan and I believe in developing independent thinkers through challenging their learning. This is my first year with Country Day School but year eight of my career as a classroom teacher.
Originally from the western suburbs of Chicago, I attended Illinois State University where I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education in 2011. I moved to Chicago to begin teaching for Chicago Public Schools in a Title I school while pursuing my LBS1 and MEd in Urban Education.
Upon graduating in 2013 I bounced back and forth from 3rd and 4th grade.
Living abroad (again) has always been a dream of mine and my husbands. We relocated to Costa Rica at the beginning of August and have had a great time exploring the area and learning more about this stunning country. As well as traveling my hobbies include spending time with family, cooking, and calligraphy. I am looking forward to an outstanding year with my new international family!
