Kylie Ramirez - Country Day School

Fourth Grade Teacher

I’ve been working with elementary age children since 1996, from being an after-school counselor at drop-in programs, a basketball, and football coach, a summer program supervisor, to a professional classroom teacher. After attending San Francisco State University where I received my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, I got my teaching credential at California State University, Northridge.

This is my 14th year teaching in the classroom. The first three years included teaching 5th grade and Preschool in the Los Angeles Unified School District, then one year teaching Kindergarten at a private trilingual school in Paris, France, two years teaching Kindergarten at the Lycee Francais of Los Angeles, and now my 8th year teaching 4th grade at Country Day School in Costa Rica.

I grew up very similarly to the students I work with at Country Day School. Every four years or so we moved to a different country due to my father working in international banking. After being born in Palo Alto, California, we moved to Panama, Chile, back to Los Angeles, and finished high school at Country Day School in Costa Rica! Each country we lived in I attended an American private school. I then got married in Paris, France where I also became trilingual. My husband and I have settled nicely and are happily living in Costa Rica.
