Ever since I was young, I dreamed of being a teacher. Watching someone’s eyes light up with understanding brings a satisfaction like none other. This desire to help people learn is what led me to pursue a career in Education.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, I started my teaching career at the International Christian School of Costa Rica.
During the summers, I would return to my native Wisconsin and teach summer school Language Arts to 6th, 7th & 8th graders. Four years later, I moved my career to Country Day School where I have been a 3rd-grade teacher, ESL support teacher, and currently the Head Librarian.
In 2006, I married my husband and we started our family which has grown to include my two beautiful daughters. Living in the beautiful country of Costa Rica, it is easy to enjoy and marvel at nature which includes beaches, cloud forests, volcanoes, canals, and so much more. Being a mother, I’ve been able to share my hobbies of baking, sewing, crafts, swimming, and reading with my children.
My philosophy of education is one that looks at the whole child, makes learning meaningful for the students, and prepares them for future. In the Library we work to promote inquiry-based learning and a love for reading. I believe that learning is a lifelong habit and that we should never stop learning. I’m excited to see what new learning opportunities this year brings.
