José Luis Menendez. High School at Country Day School

High School Principal

Before arriving at CDS as the High School Principal, I spent my entire educational career in private and independent school education in the United States. I am entering my 18th year in education, with 10 of those years being in administration after receiving my Masters in Education Leadership from Teachers College at Columbia University in 2008.

Before arriving at CDS as the High School Principal, I spent my entire educational career in private and independent school education in the United States. I am entering my 18th year in education, with 10 of those years being in administration after receiving my Masters in Education Leadership from Teachers College at Columbia University in 2008.

I have always dreamed of working at an international school in another country, and I am excited about the opportunity I have here to lead the High School as Principal of the school. Leading isn't always done by being in the front. It is also done by serving and shining a light on those you lead. We have an incredible faculty here at CDS and I am privileged to be serving them as they push themselves to provide the best education to our students.

My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed our time getting to know and become a part of the CDS community and of Costa Rica. Our family has taken advantage of the many things Costa Rica has to offer. We love the outdoors and there is no better place to live than Costa Rica for any adventure outdoors.
