Ever since I can remember, I wanted to be a teacher. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with multiple curricular emphasis from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, I started my teaching career at the International Christian School of Costa Rica. During the summers, I would return to my native Wisconsin and teach summer school Language Arts to 6th, 7th & 8th graders. Four years later, I began teaching at Country Day School where I have been a 3rd-grade teacher, ESL support teacher, and currently the Head Librarian. My philosophy of education is one that looks at the whole child, makes learning meaningful for the students, and prepares them for the future.
In 2006, I married my husband and we started our family which has grown to include my two amazing daughters. Living in the beautiful country of Costa Rica, it is easy to enjoy and marvel at nature which includes beaches, cloud forests, volcanoes, canals, and so much more. Being a mother, I’ve been able to share my hobbies of baking, sewing, crafts, swimming, and reading with my children. I believe that learning is a lifelong habit and something that we never stop doing. I’m excited to see what new learning opportunities this year brings.
