Middle School

Our Middle School teachers offer an educational program that is exploratory and challenging, and incorporates student-generated questions and concerns. Instruction takes advantage of a wide variety of skills and abilities. Teachers respect multiple intelligences and individual learning styles. They utilize a variety of authentic and appropriate assessment measure ranging from essays, tests, and quizzes to collaborative projects, in class and online discussions, multimedia presentations, and performances.

Two years later, I moved  back to the USA, and I earned a double Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Sociology. After working for the State Attorney’s Office in South Florida for several years I joined the Broward County School System and fell in love with education.

    I received my bachelor’s degree and teaching credential from Sonoma State University in Northern California. Prior to teaching in Costa Rica, I taught at a charter elementary school for high-risk youth in Santa Rosa, California. I moved to Costa Rica in 2015 and worked as a middle school science and math teacher at Pan-American School for three years. In addition to my content area focus, I served on an interdisciplinary team that sought to create a caring and safe learning environment supportive of the diverse needs of all students.

    After completing my bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of Florida, I joined Peace Corps Costa Rica.  From 2010-2013, I co-taught with English teachers in two rural schools.  I helped the county of Acosta start its recycling program and trained students ages 4-65 in Microsoft Office. In 2014, I moved to my hometown Miami and joined the Teach for America 2014 cohort.  I taught U.S. History, Government and Economics at Miami Central Senior High while coaching the ladies soccer team and sponsoring Environmental Club.  I was also able to obtain my Master’s degree in Education and Social Change at the University of Miami in 2016.

I joined Teach for America to pursue my desire to help close the educational achievement gap in the US. Initially, I taught 6th grade reading in Kansas City, Missouri at an African-centered Middle School. While teaching, I earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Rockhurst University in 2011 while working as a Reading Teacher.
