My greatest happiness is when I conduct a choir. I have been singing in choral groups since I was six years old at school and I have done it consecutively until today. I have always been linked to choral projects, forming part of sacred choirs of spiritual music and gospel. Also since my childhood I have participated in band and orchestra programs, that is why music has always been a very important part of my life.
Once I finished my studies in high school, I started my bel canto higher studies, becoming part of popular and contemporary projects such as musicals as well as operettas and solo performances with different universities in Costa Rica. During my university years I also dedicated myself to the interpretation of popular music in different genres and styles.
I obtained my BA in Music Education at Continental University of Sciences and Arts and discovered my love and passion for the educational process. Later I entered my second career at the National University of Costa Rica specifically in the chair of choral conducting at B.A. and Degree in Choral Direction.
I have also done other formal studies in Choral Direction at Andrews University, Michigan, at Columbia University in New York and the University of Notre Dame in Indianapolis. I have participated in conferences of large choral groups such as the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and I have been an international jury in different choral festivals.
Currently I direct the Choir of the Adventist University of Central America founded in 1930 and the Glee Men Choir founded in 1950, of which I am an honorary director since 2015. I also give seminars about the correct use of voice, singing workshops and choral conducting. I have given various concerts as guest conductor for the North Eastern of Seventh Day of Adventist Church in New York and New Jersey Conference of SDAC, which I have taught since 2003 until today.
I am very happy to belong to the Country Day School family where I have been a teacher of the Choir class since 2015.
The relationship with my students is based on mutual trust and respect. It is a great satisfaction for me to see the results that the students get thanks to their effort and dedication.
