Dear Parents,

Thank you for attending last week’s Parent Consultations.  We hope you enjoyed finding out about your child’s progress and areas for development.  If you were unable to attend the meeting, please make an appointment to meet your child’s class teacher next week.

On Monday and Tuesday, we completed our English and Maths Parents Workshops.  In the presentations, the Maths and English subject coordinators shared examples of learning activities and tasks.  Mums and Dads muddled their way through Maths and English problems and enjoyed finding out about the programmes we use to support and promote quality reading and times tables.  We will plan to host English and Maths workshops once again next term.

Also last week, our 4B children shared their IPC unit, ‘Different Places, Similar Lives’.  The children delivered the very important message that we should take the time to find out more about one another and respect one another’s traditions.  The children sang two lovely songs with reflective lyrics.  Well done, 4B.  Thank you to all 4B parents for sourcing national dress for Thursday’s assembly.

Tomorrow the FCS (Friends of Compass) team will be hosting this month’s coffee morning.  A pop up uniform shop will also be on site until 9am.  The team also plans to sell second hand uniform at this event.  On Wednesday, the school’s STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Maths) coordinator will be running a parent workshop.  At the workshop, parents will be set a number of fun challenges which will involve teamwork, collaboration and critical thinking.  We look forward to seeing you at 7.30am.  Next Sunday and Monday the school will be focusing on STEAM projects.  This year’s theme is superheroes.  This term, the children will be studying animals and thinking about how they have adapted over time to suit the needs and conditions of their environment.  We look forward to our two theme days.

Please remember that the school will be hosting an International Breakfast and table top sale on Saturday 10th November.  The breakfast will take place from 8am to 11am.  We hope all our parents are able to bring along a traditional dish, reflecting their culture which can be shared at this event.  More information will follow.

Have a wonderful week.
