What a great week of showcasing excellence in the Secondary School. We had already learned that one of our IB students achieved grades that placed her in the top 8% of students worldwide. We were also informed this week that our students achieved the highest mark for Maths in Qatar, the highest mark for Science in Qatar and a high achievement in the Dutch language.
Here at Compass, we do not solely concentrate and celebrate the academic achievements of students. We are busy building students with character. As well as practicing their music and drama for our Variety Evening and upcoming performance of Annie, they have been out beating local teams in football and netball. I was in Aspire Park this weekend with my son doing cross country and also bumped into some of our Year 10 and 11 students. They were carrying out a mapping and orienteering exercise for their Duke of Edinburgh International Award. I am also glad to see such an uptake for our expeditions week in the last week of Term 1. This will build on the skills outside the classroom, and give our students a real edge later on in life.
This successful week was capped off with our Secondary Showcase on Saturday. It was lovely to meet some of the parents and children from our Primary schools. They left informed of what our Secondary School offers and entertained by all the interactive activities available for them in the school.
