It has been an absolute pleasure to see so many of our families in school supporting the various international themed events. Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming school events over the next few weeks.
Over the course of the week, students were given the opportunity to celebrate and share interesting facts about the country they identify as home. It was a great learning experience for students and teaching staff alike, as they were given a better understanding of the culture and history of the countries represented within each class. For the remainder of the week, each class focussed on one particular country and learned about the culture, history and significant people and landmarks associated with the country. Many of the teachers and learning assistants shared their experiences living or visiting these countries.
Thursday morning’s parade was a culmination of this learning and it was great to see so many parents in attendance. The students shared their learning through facts, art, music and in many cases dances associated with their class country. This included flamenco, salsa, merengue and Bollywood dancing, a group performance of the Haka and even the bashing of a piñata!
The international theme continued with our International Breakfast on Saturday. Over forty countries from around the world were represented and students, teachers and parents enjoyed sampling foods, participating in traditional activities and listening to songs with a global theme throughout the morning. Thank you to all of those involved in making the event a great success!
Year 1 – 3 Musical Melody
Our Year 1, 2 and 3 students have been busy rehearsing for the Musical Melody performance. This year’s performance has a western cowboy theme and is entitled ‘Ye Ha’. The students are very excited to perform to the wider school community on Tuesday at 5:00 pm. This event is extremely popular so please arrive early to secure a good seat. We look forward to seeing many of you there for what will be a highlight of the school year!
